Secret Service Threat

The Secret Service is going to get Trump killed.  They look like Keystone Cops on replays of attempted assassinations. They are simply not good enough.

In a powerful Opinion piece in the New York Post on April 27, Patrick J. Brosnan (founder of the nation’s largest privately held security company) confirms this view: “In my four decades protecting lives — from the streets of the South Bronx as an NYPD detective in the robbery and gun squads to building a powerhouse security company — I have never seen a more alarming pattern of incompetence.”

He outlines the specific failures in each of the FOUR assassination attempts on Trump’s life.  In Butler, PA, there were “Catastrophic failures in communication, coordination, command and control with the shooter the only person who thought to put a drone in the air that day.” At the Trump International Golf Course attempt, a simple canine patrol would have detected the shooter who hid undetected for 12 hours.

Mar-a-Lago had a gate that took up to 60 seconds to close, an obvious problem that was never addressed and almost allowed the third assassin to gain entry.  And finally, last Saturday’s attempt at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner … where to even start?  Secret Service agents were easily bowled aside by the rushing assassin and then missed him FIVE TIMES when they finally took shots!

Mr. Brosnan’s conclusion: “These near misses were the predictable result of outdated thinking, weak technology, fragmented command and personnel who lack the elite training and battlefield mindset required for this threat level.”

His solution: seamless integration of the best and brightest — former Delta Force, Navy SEALs, Army Rangers, top law enforcement — paired with world-class canines, counter-drone capability, rapid-response protocols with zero tolerance for slow gates or blind spots.

I know that the men and women of the Secret Service work very hard and dedicate their lives to protecting our leaders.  I honor and respect that.  But it is fact that they have failed badly FOUR TIMES and are just not up to the job of protecting President Trump.

We cannot afford to be sentimental or soft or give any more chances. The Secret Service needs a complete overhaul like every other government department has experienced.  Bring in the Special Forces.
