President Trump followed up on his May Executive Order on Prescription Drug Prices last week with a powerful letter to 17 pharmaceutical company CEO’s, demanding that they lower drug prices within 60 days. American consumers currently pay up to 3 times the price the rest of the world pays and are responsible for over 70% of pharmaceutical company profits.
“The only thing I will accept from drug manufacturers is a commitment that provides American families immediate relief from vastly inflated drug prices and an end to the freeride of American innovation by European and other developed nations. … Other nations have been freeloading on U.S. innovation for far too long: it is time they pay their fair share.”
As he has done with Defense Spending and Trade, Trump is leveling the global playing field and ensuring that Americans get a fair deal.
